Nomination

The nomination process spans from the start of the first year of each cycle and lasts till the middle of the second year. During this period the unique and distinguished mosques within the targeted area are nominated. However, the nominated mosques must be built heretofore and in-use for two years by the time mentioned. Furthermore, these mosques are a real life incarnation of the mosque architecture conception in the twenty first century, which are targeted for nomination.  En masse, all mosques are unexceptionally approved; albeit, nomination is based on the following mosque typologies;
1- Central Mosques
2- Neighborhood Mosques
3- Friday (Juma’) Mosques
4- Prayer Halls (Musalla) (New)
5- Smart Mosques (New)

Fourth Cycle

The 4th cycle of Abdullatif Alfozan Award for Mosque Architecture (2020-2023) has officially started on April 1st, 2020. Living Mosque will be the main theme. The intention of this cycle is retrieving the original function of mosques not only as a place for worship but also as an urban pivot, in which strongly connected to societies daily activities.

Nomination’s General Conditions:

1- Mosque to be built or rehabilitated after year 2000
2- Mosque to be in current use
3- Mosque not to be previously awarded with Abdullatif Alfozan Award for Mosque Architecture.
4- Mosque’s design to be authentic architectural work and not copied.
