The 4th International Conference on Mosque Architecture (ICMA-4) was held from 4–6 November 2025 at Taşkışla, the historic campus of Istanbul Technical University (ITU). Organized by the Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture in partnership with Istanbul Technical University, the conference brought together hundreds of architects, scholars, researchers, designers, and technical experts from around the world.

ICMA-4 reaffirmed its position as the leading global platform dedicated to the future of mosque architecture, advancing the Award’s mission to promote scholarly research, elevate design standards, and document innovative practices across the Islamic world.

A Comprehensive Scientific Program Across Three Days

The conference presented one of its richest academic programs to date, featuring peer-reviewed research across five specialized tracks:

  • Evolution of Mosque Architecture Through the Ages: historical development, architectural identity, and spatial typologies.

  • The Mosque Architecture of the Future: forward-looking approaches and emerging typologies.

  • Design Morphology & Composition: form, geometry, proportions, and architectural composition.

  • Mosque Urbanism & Community Integration: the mosque’s role within the urban and social fabric.

  • Building Technology & Structures: advancements in construction systems, materials, and structural design.

Specialized Workshops

ICMA-4 hosted targeted workshops that enriched the conference experience:
