Award’s Preparation for the Third Cycle Second Jury Meeting and Second International Conference on Mosque Architecture in Kuala Lumpur – November 2019

Throughout preparation for ” Award’s 3^rd cycle Second International Master Jury Meeting “and “the Second International Conference on Mosque Architecture – ICMA” at Kuala Lumpur next November 2019, both HE Prof. Mashary Al Naim Secretary General of the Award accompanied by Dr. Hani Al Huneidi Consultant of the Award visited during the period from 21 to 27 April 2019.The team visited the Institute of Malaysian Architects PAM and met with the Architect Ar Ezumi bin Ismail President of and council members of PAM, During this meeting, many issues been discussed including hosting the upcoming meeting of “3^rd cycle Second International Master Jury Meetings” next November 21-24, 2019, in addition to other proposed agenda for cooperation between the two institutions in the professional, architectural and scientific aspects. The two sides will draft a bilateral agreement to be concluded by the two sides in November 2019.

The award team also visited the Museum of Islamic Art in Kuala Lumpur, which is expected to embrace the Second International Conference on Mosque Architecture. The Secretary General inspected the all proposed halls and lounges that are expected to host the conference. The Secretary General also met with the Dr. Heba Barakat curator of the Museum to discuss further technical issues related to ICMA 2019

Moreover, the award team visited the Faculty of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED) at the International Islamic University of Malaysia IIUM, in which planned to be the scientific partner of the award for ICMA 2019. KAED runs the work of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, hence, during this meeting Dr. Al-Naim and Dr. Al-Huneidi reviewed the proceedings of the conference, and role of scientific committee in the Conference.

Finally, the award team visited the Malaysian Book and Translation Foundation ITBM to discuss the possibility of printing the Conference proceedings and some of the award publications at Malaysia.

At the end of the visit, the Secretary-General of the Award, Dr. Mashary Al-Naim, signed a multilateral framework agreement with all the ICMA organizing parties of the Second International Conference on Mosques Architecture, to determine the general framework of the conference and to specify tasks of each party of the largest scientific conference specialized in mosque architecture. The Secretary General thanked the professional partner of the award (ATSA), that Architectural establishment at Kuala Lumpur for their assistance in organizing the conference and preparing for the 3^rd cycle Second International Master Jury Meeting.
